Ethnopoly – the game of cultural understanding

To improve relations and cultural understanding between an international science community and their local host community

In order to improve the knowledge of the cultural diversity of the town of Meyrin, Switzerland (close to the main CERN site) organized an activity for children and parents called "Ethnopoly". CERN took part in the event as the next door neighbour and a big and multicultural orgnisation.
"Ethnopoly" was invented in 2001 by the Sri Lankan association 'Katamaran', in order to facilitate the integration of their community in Switzerland, and was first carried out in Zoug and Lucerne. Since then the concept has spread to other towns and broadened to include all cultures.
This game could be adopted by any large international science entity or collaboration wishing to reach out to their host community.
